The perfect spiced apple cider

How many of you have fond memories for walking in from school, and smelling the fresh spiced apple cider your mom had made for a family gathering or just to make the house smell good? There was just something so warm and comforting about that aroma.

It is a holiday staple around our house and I just love the way my house smells when I make it. Not only that, fresh pressed apple juice is full of dense nutrients that support overall cellular health so it's a win win!

First things first, what are the benefits of apples?

  • Apples are full of antioxidants and fiber- both of which support cellular health and digestion.

  • Contain malic acid which keeps your teeth nice and white.

  • They are loaded with pectin, a source of soluble fiber which reduces cholesterol.Eating apples regularly also reduces bacteroids and clostridia's found in your large intestines and promotes overall intestinal health.

  • Apples in the form of fresh pressed juice contain all of the phytonutrients and are in a highly absorbable form, making it much easier for your body to take in the nutrients.

  • That being said, too much apple juice can make for frequent restroom visits which is unpleasant for many people, so enjoy in moderation! 

I am loving experimenting with vitality essential oils (oils regarded as safe for ingestion), and this recipe is no exception. Vitality oils contain a much more robust flavor than a dry spice, have a very long shelf life, and are super concentrated meaning you get quite a bit of bang for your buck.

The recipe is super simple: simply grab your favorite fresh pressed apple juice (preferably organic and NOT from concentrate) and heat on medium on the stove. Add the recommended drops of the vitality oils to taste,  stir, and enjoy warm! It's a wonderfully warming drink, and perfect for any fall gathering.
